Do you have a child in grades 3-6 who is getting ready to go back to school? Or are you homeschooling and looking for another math & science tool for your educational arsenal? In either case, you’ll be excited about our first-ever giveaway!
I (Lena, Liberty, and Maya’s mom) am doing this review and giveaway because Lena and Liberty can’t bring themselves to admit that they like Scholastic’s StudyJams! site. Yet, every time I’m browsing around on it, they come from all over the house to hover around me, watching me and telling me what to click. When I called them out on that, Liberty said, “We like it, it’s just kind of schooly.” Apparently, they prefer their educational websites to have less learning in them, that’s all.
Here is what StudyJams! is all about:
StudyJams! is an online learning experience for kids in grades 3-6 that
explains the most challenging math and science topics through:*Animated science and math videos that demonstrate concepts in
real-world situations, using real-world language
*Step-by-step tutorials that demonstrate ways to solve equations
*Karaoke songs that make it easy to remember the differences between
mean, median, and mode, or how to use the scientific method
*An age-appropriate encyclopedia lets kids research topics in
real-time as they use the service
*A Jam Studio that let kids create and produce their own downloadable
MP3s, providing incentives for students to keep coming back and view more
instructional content to gain points
Just for fun, take the Study Jams! Summer Challenge to see if your kids are ready for back to school. If they’re not, don’t panic! You’ll have a chance to win a free subscription to StudyJams! and they’ll be ready in no time. We have 3 subscriptions and 5 StudyJams! karaoke CDs to give away. All you have to do is give us some link love by linking to us on your blog. Then, leave us a comment over here, with a link to your blog. We’ll close the contest on Thursday, August 21st and announce winners Friday, August 22nd. If you don’t have a blog, you should get one. Kidding! If you don’t have a blog, tell your friends about us and make them leave a comment and we’ll let you play, too.

Let’s hope this works the first time. I am having technological issues all over the place.
ps The Scholastic site looks like the perfect place for my 3rd grader. (Now that he has all that extra xbox time.)

Hi. I don’t have a blog, I just read and live through everyone else’s blog. But my son enjoyed taking the summer quiz. He didn’t do too bad for a third grader who should have been born about 100 years ago. Thanks for the link.
