This is the first time I made a music video with lyrics on it! Hope you like it! It was really hard, because Windows Movie Maker kept freezing, and when I open the saved file the song always got short, and it messed it up, but I finally finished it. =]

Ohayocon is an anime convention, and this was the first year I went. Anime is animated movies/shows from Japan, like Spirited Away, and other Miyazaki films. I like Miyazaki films, but my favorite anime series right now are “Fullmetal Alchemist” and “Death Note.”

At Ohayocon there are a lot of people who dress up as characters and sometimes they act out skits of  the character. It’s called cosplay. I recorded some of my favorite cosplay characters. I was a little excited so it was shaky, but I’ll do better today when I go again.

If you’re into anime at all you should try to go to conventions. Click here for a list of conventions all over.

Even if you can’t afford to go to a convention you can just go to the hotel where the convention is because then you can see all the cosplayers are hanging out in the halls. And that is cool. My favorite character:

Here is some info about What’s on Your Plate? from the Wexner Center’s site:

“What’s a Funyon!!?,” a young girl asks. Come along as two 11-year-old girls explore food from a kid’s-eye point of view. Inspired by an Ohio summer vacation from their home in Manhattan, the girls follow a trail of information seeking facts and exploding myths about food by interviewing a variety of people from doctors to farmers to chefs. Farming, school lunches, distribution, ingredients, diet, health, and global politics are among the topics they address with fresh questions and sassy humor. The girls’ unfiltered honesty and curiosity bring a welcome sense of authentic inquiry to this engaging documentary about a topic of clear relevance to all of us.

And Tahaan:

Tahaan is an 8-year-old boy who lives in the conflict-torn Kashmir valley of Pakistan. When his family’s donkey is sold by his mother to repay debts, Tahaan sets off on a quest to recover his beloved animal friend. He must decide whether to trust strangers or keep secrets from his mother, and after he is recruited by militants to throw a grenade into an army compound, he faces a crucial choice about how far he’s willing to go to achieve his goal. More than a war story, this is a film about yearning, finding your purpose in life, understanding right and wrong and, ultimately, about choosing peace. Fable-like and beautifully shot, Tahaan captures the scintillating colors, textures, sounds, and smells of a beautiful and ancient land now characterized by border checkpoints, sniper fire, corrupt money lenders, and “disappeared” fathers.

While we’re there, we’re going to check out The Box, where we can see animations, dramatic narratives, and experimental projects by young (age 8-18) Ohio filmmakers and video artists which were chosen to be included in the youth division of the 2009 Ohio Short Film and Video Showcase.

We visited Southern Indiana for 3 days! We visited a bunch of places, but this post is all about our first day, which was in Lincoln City. We did a bunch of Abe Lincoln stuff! There was a play, “LINCOLN,” and it was awesome!! When they showed parts of the Civil War in the play it would go BOOM and people would scream and there was one random thing that one girl in the play said: “Oh dear Alex! I need you desperately right now!!” It was so random!

Before the play, we visited Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and Living Historical Farm. I liked the living farm because it showed the old-fashioned stuff that Lincoln probably grew up with. After that, we went to Lake Rudolph Campground and RV Resort in Santa Claus, Indiana. It was awesome! You can rent an RV instead of just bringing a tent! There’s a pool and a beach and a playground and Coke machines all over.

Then we went back to Lincoln City to see the Lincoln Bicentennial Plaza and to see the play and eat a yummy Amish dinner. I liked the rolls and the chicken. The play was really cool and I liked it. We’ll tell about the rest of our trip (Holiday World, Surfin’ Safari, Leavenworth Inn, and Marengo Caves) soon! Liberty

The video shows our behind-the-scenes tour of Kalahari Waterpark and Resort in Sandusky, OH that Maris Brenner and Mike Thatcher gave us when we were there for the Unschoolers Winter Waterpark Gathering in February. The tour was interesting, but the most fun at Kalahari is the wave pool!

Other fun things are the arcade and mini golf,

the hot tub, the indoor playplace, the basketball swimming pool, the lazy river, the obstacle course,and the water slides! Some of them were too scary for us, but there were some that were just right for us.

Here’s what we did at Kalahari: After playing all day in the waterpark, at night we went to the arcade, and then we went to the hotel room, which was super cool and pretty and big! And then we went to sleep in the comfy beds and then we did the same thing the next day.

Here are some questions that Maris Brenner answered for us:

Lena wanted to know where they get the baby animals for the pictures?

Maris told us the animals don’t live at Kalahari. A local company has a farm that raises them and Kalahari only gets them for a very short time until they’re too big. So they travel back and forth to work every day. When we got our picture taken with one cub, there was also a little tiger cub sleeping with a big stuffed tiger. It was cute! And then the cub we took our picture with was scooching around on his ball.

Liberty wondered what is Kalahari’s busiest season? Maris said any weekend and any time that kids are not in school is really busy. She said that’s why they love the unschoolers so much, because we go in the middle of the week when they wouldn’t normally be busy.

Noah wanted to know how long it takes to make a water slide. Maris said that was a very good question and she had never been asked that before! Just putting the slide up takes about 2 or 3 months, but getting all of the water and electrical connections going takes a lot longer, like about 9 months.

We’re so happy that we went to Kalahari and we’re going back next month! Go to their website and look at all of the other things they have like the spa, Pottery Pizazz, shopping, and restaurants! Do it NOW!

We’re still on vacation, but we have lots of cool reviews (and some new reviewers) coming up when we get back. While you wait, you can enjoy our latest breakdancing video. We don’t know what the song is because we used to have Dum Diddly by the Black Eyed Peas on it, but Youtube made us switch it and we had to pick from a pre-approved list.
