Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Funny Face, and Horton Hears a Who

Posted on 27 January 2009 by Lena

We got a bunch of movies a long time ago that we didn’t review yet because we didn’t like them and we don’t like to do bad reviews.

image-21image-3

Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Funny Face are both old movies that they released again with new special features, in honor of Audrey Hepburn’s 80th birthday anniversary. My grandma likes these movies and my mom does too, but I can’t really understand when the people talk because I think they talk too fast! Maya liked the singing and dancing in Funny Face, but I didn’t. My mom liked the special features and the booklet that came with them. They both come with 2 discs and the 2nd disc is all special features.

The best and the most important part is one of the new special features on Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s called Mr. Yunioshi: An Asian Perspective and it talks about how racist it was to have Mickey Rooney play a Japanese character with so many bad stereotypes. It also talks about other Asian stereotypes in movies and tv and why that’s wrong. And it talks about the Japanese interment camps during WWII and how bad that was. It’s the most interesting part of the DVD. Here are Breakfast at Tiffany’s other special features:

o   A Golightly Gathering  (new)
o   Henry Mancini: More Than Music (new)
o   Mr. Yunioshi: An Asian Perspective (new)
o   The Making of a Classic
o   It’s So Audrey: A Style Icon
o   Behind the Gates: The Tour
o   Brilliance in a Blue Box
o   Audrey’s Letter to Tiffany
o   Original Theatrical Trailer
o   Photo Galleries

And Funny Face’s:

o   Kay Thompson: “Think Pink” (new)
o   This is VistaVision (new)
o   Fashion Photographers Exposed (new)
o   The Fashion Designer and His Muse
o   Parisian Dreams
o   Paramount in the ’50s - Retrospective Featurette
o   Original Theatrical Trailer
o   Photo Galleries

And I don’t really like Horton Hears a Who, either. It’s just that they try to be funny, but they are really not. Probably the only funny one is the little yellow one and I think her name is Kate or Katie. AND the Horton Hears a Who people didn’t even send us the real DVD!!! They sent us a promotional copy that came in an envelope and not a nice box!!! AND when you play the movie there’s a logo on the screen the whole time!! Annoying!!! We work hard on these reviews so the least they could do is send us a good copy!!

An Interview With Moises Arias

Posted on 23 December 2008 by abby

We are huge fans of Moises Arias from seeing him on Hannah Montana, and now he’s in a new movie called Beethoven’s Big Break, which comes out December 26th! It is very funny and it has hilarious extras. Liberty, Noah and I took turns talking to Moises about the movie and other things. Here’s what he had to say:

Noah went first:

Noah: Is the dog that plays Beethoven as crazy on the set as his character is in the movie?

Moises: I don’t think so, not much. He likes to sleep a lot, he’s lazy, very cute, he’s big, he can scare you with his face, but inside he’s sweet and likes to sleep and play a lot.

Noah: That’s cool. Beethoven had a really sweet trailer in the movie; did he have a better trailer than you on the movie set?

Moises: No, he actually lived with his trainers at their house and when he was on set he was in their car. That would be very funny if he had a bigger trailer than the rest of us, though.

Noah: In that scene where you’re throwing the cracker, how many tries did it take to get it in your mouth?

Moises: A couple times because the crackers were pretty big. I’m pretty good at it, but the crackers were big so it was hard and then the director told me that if I missed the cracker, to just stay in character and they would use it in the movie.

I went next.

Lena: There’s a scene where you fall off of your skateboard in front of a girl. Have you ever been embarrassed like that in real life?

Moises: Yeah many times. I remember one time I fell on slippery flooring in a play. It was supposed to be raining and I fell on my head in front of 800 people! But I got up and just kept going and it was fine.

Lena: What was your favorite scene in the movie?

Moises: I think my favorite scene is when me and Beethoven mess up the whole house with spaghetti sauce. We had a lot of fun with that because they had to put tomato sauce and spaghetti all over me and all over Beethoven and it was so messy and fun.

(That was one of my favorite scenes, too). Then Liberty had a turn.

Liberty: What do you like to do besides acting?

Moises:Besides acting? I really don’t know. I’d probably be a regular kid in Georgia. I live in both California and Georgia and I’m in 9th grade and I’d probably just be a regular kid going to high school if I wasn’t acting.

Liberty: You have some really good dance moves in the movie, can you do the worm?

Moises: I can do it, but I do the worm backwards.

Liberty: That’s pretty cool. If you want some break dancing tips, you could check out our moves at KidsKnowStuff.com.

Moises: Oh, ok!

Moises was nice and it was pretty cool talking to him. You should check him out in Beethoven’s Big Break on December 26th!

PS We had a very busy couple of months so we’ll be on vacation until some time in January. But you can keep checking back or follow us on Twitter (KidsKnowStuff is our username) or subscribe to us in a feed reader to see when we update again. Happy Holidays from all of us at Kids Know Stuff!

These DVDs are Aesop Bops! and The Frog Bride. David Gonzalez is a storyteller and we saw him do The Frog Bride at the Wexner center! It was funny! And you should see him in person too! The Aesop Bops! DVD has the Aesop’s Fables, The Lion and the Mouse, The Fisherman and His Wife, and The Turtle’s Shell. David Gonzalez and the musicians make them so funny! The musicans on Aesop Bops! are Daniel Kelly (keyboard), Dave Hertzberg (bass), and Chris Michael (drums). On The Frog Bride, the musicians are Christian Howes (violin and electric violin) and Daniel Kelly (piano, keyboard, electronics). And we have some copies of both DVDs to give to you! Also, if you click this link, and then click “shows” there are interesting things about each show like study guides and answers to interesting questions and things. These DVDs are great and they’re different than any DVDs you’ll ever see. We love them. Storytelling is awesome!

We’ve been watching regular DVDs, too, like Shrek the Halls and the Kung Fu Panda two-disc set. They’re so funny and the DVD extras on the Kung Fu Panda are awesome! Except for the games. They’re not very good. But the second disc is another show called Secrets of the Furious Five. And you could win that too! We also have copies of Tropic Thunder to give away, but we didn’t watch that movie. Our dad did and he said it’s not for kids and it’s only for adults. And even some adults might not like it. But some people will think it’s funny. You should look here to decide if you will like it or not.

Also, on November 25th, Paramount Home Entertainment will release “wrapped and ready” DVDs, which means they’re already wrapped up for Christmas! And we’re giving some to you. We have wrapped and ready versions of Iron Man, Kung Fu Panda, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

We want everybody to be able to enter our contests even if you don’t have a place to link to us. But we also want links because that helps us get more free stuff to give to you! You have until Sunday, November 30th at 4:00pm to enter. Good luck!
