Mary Poppins 45th Anniversary Edition

marypoppins

We love Mary Poppins and Disney just released a new 45th anniversary edition of it! It has all of the bonus features plus a new one that takes you backstage to Mary Poppins on Broadway.  Our friend Peyton and his mom Erin reviewed it:

Introduce a whole new generation to the joys of Mary Poppins.  Peyton (age 3) wanted to watch this movie over and over.  He walked around singing “Chim-chimeree” for days.  He especially giggled when Burt played his one-man band and Burt, Mary and the kids went foxhunting.  He was entranced by the chimney sweeps popping out of the chimneys to dance on the roof-tops.  He laughed along when they all went floating up to the ceiling.  Best of all…it’s a kids movie that I (his mom) can actually enjoy watching over and over, as preschoolers tend to do!”

Space Buddies

Posted on 02 February 2009 by Lena

Space Buddies is coming out on DVD tomorrow, February 3rd. Space Buddies is about 5 puppies that accidentally end up going to space when they are peeking in a rocket ship. They meet new friends and they all have to work together to get back home. I think this movie is a little bit funny and good. And golden retrievers are my favorite dogs so it was fun watching the little puppies.

And here is a Space Buddies activity sheet for you to do! Click on it and print it out! It’s fun!!

Posted on 18 November 2008 by Lena

Ok so this is WALL-E the movie and it is very funny. It has funny short movies and lots of other special features. And it comes out Today (11/18)! It is about a robot named WALL-E and he meets another robot named EVE and then they fly on a spaceship to, well, outerspace! And a bunch of people live in that spaceship because earth was a mess and a bunch of junk was lying around.

WALL-E is made by Pixar and the animators hid lots of stuff from other PIxar movies in it. Take a look and then see if you can find the hidden things. It’s fun! Click it to make it bigger and then print it out.

And don’t forget about our giveaway!

Tinker Bell on DVD

Posted on 24 October 2008 by Liberty

Me: Maya, what do you want people to know about the Tinker Bell DVD?

Maya: It’s awesome.

Me: What else?

Maya: It’s awesome.

*sigh*

Tinker Bell is the first in a series of films that will feature the Disney Fairies. We’re introduced to Tinker Bell’s home, Pixie Hollow, where we find that each fairy has their own special gift. Tink struggles with the feeling that her fairy gift isn’t much of a gift at all. She has to learn to stay true to herself and to take pride in what she was born to do.

Maya didn’t care about this, but parents might like to know that the fairies are fun to listen to, as they’re voiced by Mae Whitman, America Ferrera, Raven-Symone, Lucy Liu, Kristen Chenoweth, Jesse McCartney, and Anjelica Huston.

As with all Disney DVDs, there’s a great bunch of bonus features that we haven’t had time to sample because Maya only wants to watch the movie.

Tinker Bell is available on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 28th.

Oh, and here’s a fun little puzzle for your little ones to do. Just click on the image to make it bigger and then print it out. It’s kind of like a Sudoku puzzle.

Sleeping Beauty 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition

Posted on 08 October 2008 by Liberty

This is the brand-new version of Sleeping Beauty (it’s the same story, they just made the colors better and added new bonus features). It came out yesterday. Maya wants this movie to be called “Sleeping Beauty, Be Dead.” ??? She likes the dancing more than the movie. The dancing part is in the bonus features. It teaches you how to waltz. Another bonus feature is The Castle Walk-Through, where a guy tells the story while you’re walking through the castle. Lena says the castle walk-through is “just freaky!” She’s right. Maya says, “Scary!”

One bonus feature I like is the Live-Action Reference where they show the artists looking at live people doing the things that the artists need to draw. In one part there’s a man dressed up like one of the good fairies. It’s funny.
